Starline Ital Kitchen Wins First Gouté Dominik One Pot Challenge

Starline Ital Kitchen has been crowned the winner of the inaugural Gouté Dominik One Pot Challenge, which brought seven teams together in Layou for a celebration of Dominican cuisine.
The competition was held on Sunday, July 19, as one of the opening activities for the new Gouté Dominik culinary initiative organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Discover Dominica Authority.
Discover Dominica Authority representative Monelle Alexis said organizers were pleased with the response to the first event and congratulated Starline Ital Kitchen on securing the championship.
She also thanked the Government of Dominica, sponsors, participating teams and patrons who supported the competition and helped make the event successful.
The One Pot Challenge was designed to showcase Dominican cooking and bring attention to the flavours, ingredients and culinary skills found across the island.
Activities will continue with Gouté Dominik Restaurant Week, which runs until July 26 and features 19 participating restaurants. Residents and visitors are being encouraged to dine at the establishments and support the local food sector.
The programme will also include a mocktail competition at Ocean Oasis, where local mixologists are expected to prepare creative drinks using Dominican ingredients.
The Gouté Dominik Mocktail Challenge is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. and will provide another opportunity for participants to demonstrate how local produce and flavours can be incorporated into the hospitality industry.
Organizers are promoting the wider initiative as an opportunity to strengthen culinary tourism, increase public support for local restaurants and place greater attention on Dominican food traditions.
