The Superintendent of Prisons in Dominica serves as the head of the nation’s correctional services and is responsible for the direct oversight of the island’s prison system, most notably the Dominica State Prison, located in Stock Farm. The role is primarily operational, involving the custody, welfare, discipline, and rehabilitation of inmates, as well as the overall administration of prison staff, security procedures, and correctional facilities.
The Superintendent reports to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security and is guided by the provisions of the Prisons Act and other related regulations.
