Chief Magistrate Carette-George explained that the new system was necessary to manage the high volume of cases pending before the courts. Sessions are scheduled from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, making legal proceedings more accessible to working citizens and ensuring greater efficiency in case management.
The decision was reached after consultation with magistrates, clerks, and the Dominica Bar Association, reflecting collaboration across the justice sector. It is seen as a modern approach to legal administration and part of wider efforts to improve the Dominican Judiciary.

The Night Court handles both criminal and civil matters, including:
