Police Investigate Apparent Suicide in Portsmouth

An investigation has been launched into the apparent suicide of a 35-year-old man whose body was discovered at his residence in the Lagoon community of Portsmouth on Sunday morning.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force confirmed that officers from the Portsmouth Police Station responded to a report at approximately 7:54 a.m., where they found the lifeless body of Maradona Melvon Bruno, a native of Savanne Paille, at his home in Lagoon.
A medical doctor attended the scene and officially pronounced Bruno dead. His body was subsequently transported to a funeral home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have described the matter as an apparent suicide but emphasized that investigations remain ongoing as officers work to establish all of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a brief statement, the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force said detectives are continuing their inquiries and that additional information will be released if necessary as the investigation progresses.
The Police Force also extended condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased during what it described as a difficult time.
Authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident, pending the outcome of the investigation and the post-mortem examination.
