Dominica Anticipates Record Cruise Arrivals for 2025 Season
The 2025 cruise season is shaping up to be one of the most successful on record for Dominica, with the Ministry of Tourism projecting over 300,000 cruise passengers to visit the island before the season concludes.
According to officials, the season will feature 229 calls, including 12 inaugural ship visits, further cementing Dominica’s status as a growing destination in the Caribbean’s competitive cruise industry. This marks a substantial rebound from pandemic-era lows and reflects growing confidence among cruise operators in the island’s offerings.
Tourism Minister Denise Charles said the surge represents not just a win for port numbers but also a much-needed economic boost for small vendors, tour operators, and hospitality workers. “Each visit strengthens Dominica’s economy, from the craft stalls in Roseau to the hot springs in Wotten Waven,” she noted.
The Discover Dominica Authority has also intensified its destination marketing efforts, focusing on niche experiences such as eco-tourism, culture, and wellness. However, some tourism professionals are calling for a careful balance between growth and sustainability, citing concerns over port congestion and community strain.
The season’s midpoint will be reviewed in May to assess infrastructure readiness and tour capacity. The ministry says they are already preparing for even greater arrivals in 2026.
