Job Description
At Dominica State College, the safety of students and staff is a top priority. As a Public Safety Officer, you’ll be entrusted with securing buildings, supervising campus facilities, and responding quickly to incidents. Candidates must be dependable, proactive, and effective communicators ready to support the college around the clock.
Responsibility
- Ensure students’ safety by monitoring the admission of non-student individuals on campus.
- Check campus perimeters regularly through regular patrols for intruders or to prevent possible trespassing on campus.
- Monitor the behavior of suspicious persons, movement of vehicles and stores
- Keep watchful surveillance of any irregular activity on campus and report to the Security Supervisor.
- Take preventive measures to minimize student violence on campus.
- Ensure that all buildings and contents of buildings are secured daily.
- Maintain duty registers and log books as prescribed for the duty post.
- Verify and take charge of room keys from the previous officer.
- Refer all visitors with problems to the concerned authorities.
- Prevent access to unauthorized persons inside the premises.
- Check all personnel and vehicles for identity before allowing entry
- Fill in the log of entry and exit of personnel, materials, and vehicles.
- Any other duties that may be assigned to you by your supervisor which is in line with duties.
- Conduct building inspections to ensure no sure illegal or dangerous activities are present
- Observe and monitor the flow of people on the compound and detect improper behaviors.
- Keep the main gate closed at all times unless allowing the entry of verified vehicles.
- Drivers of all tinted vehicles coming on campus should be ordered to whine down the windows for proper identification.
Experience and Qualifications
- A High-School Diploma
- Strong character references (2)
- A clean, valid Police record
- A mature and capable team player
- Quick-thinking and observant
- Strong communication skills
- Able to work night
- In good shape and of sound mental and physical health.
