Job Description
Advance your technical career with Dominica Electrical Services Ltd. (DOMLEC) as an Electrical Technician. Working within the Generation Department, you'll install, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot critical electrical systems while supporting reliable electricity generation across the company's operations.
Responsibility
Supports the maintenance, operation, construction, installation, and enhancement of the Hydro and Diesel Generation Plants and all associated electrical and electro-mechanical equipment. Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, ensures the efficient functioning and continual improvement of DOMLEC's power generation facilities.
Experience and Qualifications
- An associate degree in electrical engineering or successful completion of a 2-year community college certificate or A-Level or City and Guilds certificate in related field.
- Professional or specialised training and/or exposure to:
- Electrical/electronic technology and principles of hydraulics
- Electromechanical instruments
- Satisfactory proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and other relevant computer programs
- Report Writing
Minimum of three (3) years of industry related experience with considerable exposure to:
- Various types of electrical and hydraulic equipment
- Operation and maintenance of various types of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and hydroelectrical/electronic equipment and systems.
- Industrial wiring codes and standards
- Operating hand and power tools, soldering and fault-testing equipment
- Interpreting electrical diagrams for control systems
- Programming logic controllers (PLC)
- Procedures and requirements governing the issue and surrender of test and work permits.
The incumbent should possess the ability to:
- Work independently and on own initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Team-oriented
