Job Description
Unicomer Dominica is seeking a Driver/Porter who can balance transportation duties with strong customer care. From loading heavy items to documenting deliveries accurately, this position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to stay calm and courteous during busy schedules and challenging delivery conditions.
Responsibility
- Responsible for the truck and the items onboard
- Load items on the truck, count and document the number of items received for delivery
- Transport items to the customer’s residence
- Unload the items at the destination site, count and document the number of items delivered
- Position the items as directed by the customer
- Ensure the customer’s satisfaction at all times
- Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip to the Supervisor
- Keep truck clean inside and out
- Drive truck in a safe manner at all times, always wearing safety belt
- Successfully complete assignments in a professional and timely manner
- Report truck maintenance problems to the Supervisor
- Keep in close contact with the Supervisor, ensuring that he is aware of your location at all times
- Follow all safety regulations and precautions
- Wear all required and necessary Protective Equipment
- Performs other related duties as required
Experience and Qualifications
- The job holder must have completed Secondary Level Education
- Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s License
- Acceptable driving record
- Drug & Alcohol-free status
- A level of physical fitness that corresponds with the ability to lift furniture/heavy items
- Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition when dealing with customers
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- The ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to work long hours when required
- The ability to communicate effectively with customers and managers
- The ability to communicate well in creole
