Job Description

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security invites applications for the role of Chief Development Planner. This strategic position is integral to implementing development and resilience strategies, driving economic growth, and fostering sustainable planning initiatives for Dominica.

Responsibility

Under the supervision of the Financial Secretary the Chief Development Planner performs a variety of functions to include:

  • Undertakes analysis of the domestic situation including aspects of Economic and Socio political considerations as a basis for National Development Planning;
  • Coordinates the implementation of Government’s National Resilience Development Strategy (NRDS) 2018-2030;
  • Monitors and reports on the implementation of the National Resilience Development Strategy (NRDS) and the Climate Resilience Recovery Plan (CRRP);Assists Ministries/Departments in the preparation of sector programmes in order to ensure consistency with Government’s resilient growth strategy;
  • Supervises the Planning and Policy Implementation Unit;
  • Undertakes coordinating, supervisory and managerial activities as assigned by the Financial Secretary`
  • Participates in National Disaster preparation, response and recovery activities in accordance with the Disaster Management Standard Operating Procedures and Climate Resilience and Recovery Plan.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Economics or related field and Post Graduate or Certification in Management/Leadership.
  • Eight (8) years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations as they pertain to the Commonwealth of Dominica;
  • Knowledge of the Public Service Rules and Regulations and the Public Service Act;
  • Knowledge in Climate Resilience and adaptability;
  • Competence in resilience principles
  • Ability to think strategically and exercise sound judgement in decision-making;
  • Excellent written and oral communication
