The Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) is preparing to host its 18th Biennial Conference, during which the election of a new executive will be a central feature.
The conference is scheduled for April 8, 2026, at the St. Alphonsus Parish Hall under the theme “Teachers, the Foundation for National Development, Value Us.”
According to organisers, the gathering will bring together educators from across the island for a day of professional development, collaboration, and leadership in the education sector. “The Dominica Association of Teachers will convene its 18th Biennial Convention… members will also vote to elect the new executive to govern the affairs of the association for the next two years,” the association stated.
The event will begin with a formal session featuring an address by Deputy Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Dr. Valda Henry, who is expected to deliver the keynote presentation.
Following the formal proceedings, members will move into a business session where elections will take place to select the leadership team responsible for guiding the association over the next two-year term.
Organizers say the conference will provide an opportunity for educators to engage in meaningful discussions on issues affecting the teaching profession, while also strengthening unity within the sector. “All educators, especially members of the DAT, are invited and encouraged to join us… for a day of education, empowerment and professional development,” the association added.
The outcome of the elections is expected to shape the association’s direction as it continues to advocate for teachers and contribute to national development through education.
