More Than 14,500 Voter Confirmations Approved, Electoral Office Says

Dominica’s Electoral Office says the national voter confirmation process has accelerated significantly in recent weeks, with more than 14,500 confirmation applications now officially approved.
Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph reported that as of this week, 14,526 voter confirmations had been processed and approved out of 17,835 applications received nationwide. Joseph said the figures represent approximately 81 percent of all voter confirmation applications submitted so far under the ongoing electoral reform exercise.
The office also confirmed that 1,099 new voter registrations have been approved from a total of 1,242 applications received.
Officials say the remaining applications are still moving through various stages of verification and reconciliation before final approval can be granted.
Communication specialist at the Electoral Office, Prisca Julien, explained that submitting an application does not automatically result in immediate confirmation because each file must undergo detailed checks.
According to Julien, some applications remain temporarily on hold because of issues such as unclear signatures, updated identification requirements, incomplete witness information, or photo retakes needed before approval can be finalised.
The Electoral Office has also expanded its operations to improve public access to the confirmation process. Sunday confirmation sessions have now been introduced in various constituencies, while mobile verification teams continue visiting shut-ins and vulnerable residents unable to travel to confirmation centres.
Julien said the Sunday programme has been receiving strong public participation, particularly from individuals unable to attend centers during regular weekday hours.
Officials have encouraged eligible citizens to continue participating in the process and to ensure their information remains up to date as the country moves closer to full implementation of the new voter confirmation system introduced under Dominica’s electoral reform legislation.
