Marigot Hospital Phase 1: A Milestone in Enhanced Healthcare Services for Dominicans

The Government of Dominica has annoucned that delivery of health care services at the new Marigot Hospital, Phase 1, commenced on Monday September 11, 2023 from 8am.

Under Phase 1, the services offered include Specialists Clinics and Urgent Care services. These health services will be delivered on a daily basis with specialists’ clinics scheduled from 9am3pm in Obstetrics/Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics/Neonatology and Neurosurgery.

The Urgent Care services will include services related to conditions such as injury, suspicion of broken bones, chest pains, respiratory illnesses and or distress. These clinical services will be supported with laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services. Dental services will also be offered at the facility.

During Phase 1, approximately fifteen (15) new jobs will be created to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services in the areas of medicine, radiology, administration, maintenance, and finance.

In the coming months, the hospital management will introduce additional services such as dietary counselling and physiotherapy.

The commencement of services under Phase 1 will create business opportunities for farmers and other suppliers and distributors of goods and services required for the hospital’s operations. The aim is to fully commission the hospital during the current fiscal year when inpatient care, to include intensive care, maternity and surgery services, will be offered.

The Government of Dominica will continue to implement measures to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare services, which support the universal Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of good health and well-being
