Lincoln Corbette Becomes Acting Police Chief, Davidson Valerie Acting Deputy

Given that Police Chief Daniel Carbon is proceeding on a long leave of absence, Deputy Chief Lincoln Corbette has been promoted to the position of Acting Chief of Police, and Superintendent Davidson Valerie promoted to Acting Deputy of Police.

Corbette appreciated everyone for supporting him and pledged to exceed the hopes of everyone in his capacity as Acting Chief of Police. He thanked his immediate family and officials of the Dominica Police Force as well as Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for standing by him throughout his career.

“I want to also thank the Prime Minister for entrusting me at this time with the leadership of the Police force, we are in the COVID-19 period and in the peak of the hurricane season so leading the force at this time will be a challenge,” Corbette said.

He also said his work will be an extension of his duties as deputy police chief, and that he will focus extra attention on boosting the morals of police officers and improving their work conditions.

With almost 30 years experience in the police force, Corbette became a Sergeant in 2004 and an Inspector in 2011 before becoming an Assistant Superintendent in 2019. He has a B.Sc in Criminal Justice as well as a Political Science from the University of Houston in Texas, USA; and a certificate in Public Administration from the University of West Indies as well as a diploma in General Management from the same university.

Corbette also served as executive member of the Police Welfare Association in 1997 and its chairman from 2004 to 2006.
