Government Initiative Aims to Reconnect City Vagrants with Family Support Networks

The Ministry of National Security has launched a targeted initiative to identify and locate family members of individuals experiencing homelessness in the city, to support reintegration and provide structured social support.

This program focuses on assessing the needs of the city’s vagrant population by moving beyond temporary shelter solutions toward sustainable, long-term care. By establishing contact with families, the Ministry aims to evaluate whether domestic environments can provide the necessary stability for these individuals, or if specialized institutional support is required.

Ministry officials emphasise that the process is being conducted with a commitment to privacy and dignity. Social workers are tasked with gathering essential personal details that may have been lost due to prolonged displacement. This data collection is viewed as a critical step in the government’s broader social welfare strategy, which seeks to reduce the number of citizens living on the streets by leveraging the support of kin and community-based resources.
