Electoral Office Begins Voter Confirmation Ahead of Elections

According to a document from October 2025, the Electoral Office is intensifying preparations for the next General Elections with the start of the voter confirmation process on October 15, 2025.
Chairman of the Electoral Commission Duncan Stowe confirmed that 47 centers across Dominica will host the exercise, which will run for 15 months. He emphasized that the reforms are meant to modernize the system, improve transparency, and ensure that every Dominican’s vote counts.
Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph explained that only individuals whose names were on the May 2025 voters’ list are eligible to apply for confirmation. Confirmation will be carried out in every constituency, and some will have multiple centers. Enrollment officers appointed and sworn in under oath will staff these centers. Importantly, confirmation will not be conducted overseas, only within Dominica. Applicants will need to present the required documentation and must also bring a witness registered in the same polling district. In cases where original documents are unavailable, certified copies are required. This process is part of the broader electoral reform legislation passed earlier in 2025, which mandates modernization and safeguards against fraud.
The Electoral Commission has acknowledged challenges in rolling out the reforms but remains confident in the progress made. Stowe described the reform as a “renewal of trust” between the electorate and the institutions responsible for protecting their voice
