Dominica Police Force Receives Six New Vehicles from CBI Programme

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit officially handed over six new vehicles to the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen national security. The vehicles were procured through the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme, with four additional units still in transit.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these vehicles were specifically built to the specifications requested by the police and would be allocated to critical outstations and specialized units. He noted that access to reliable transportation is vital for policing in modern times, given the broader community coverage and rising demands on law enforcement.
Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore reinforced that the initiative was in direct response to requests from the police force, stressing that the vehicles were customized to meet operational needs and not imposed by government. He assured that more outstations still awaiting vehicles would receive them in due course.
Acting Police Chief and senior officers expressed appreciation for the government’s support, describing the donation as a much-needed boost to timely response and efficiency. The vehicles will be distributed across key stations including Salisbury Police Station, La Plaine Police Station, Special Services Unit (SSU), and the newly created FAMS Task Force.
Officials also stressed that strict policies would govern the care and use of the vehicles, with mandatory daily inspections and maintenance logs to ensure accountability. Officers were urged to treat the vehicles responsibly, as essential tools in safeguarding public safety.
The upgrade is seen as part of a broader national security strategy, with government reiterating its commitment to provide the police with resources necessary to protect citizens and maintain peace.
