Police Headquarters in Dominica

The principal Police Headquarters of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is located on Bath Road, Roseau, at the corner of King George V Street. This central office serves as the administrative heart of law enforcement in Dominica and accommodates the office of the Commissioner of Police, key command units, and detention facilities.

Dominica has a long history of organized policing. In the late 19th century, the police headquarters were housed within the walls of Fort Young, which overlooked Roseau. That structure functioned as the force’s command center until the fort was converted into a hotel in 1964. Today, Fort Young Hotel retains elements of the old fortress, including flagstone walkways and cannons.

The modern headquarters on Bath Road reflects the evolution of policing infrastructure in Dominica. It replaced earlier, less formal setups and now supports a structured police hierarchy, including roles from Constables to the Commissioner, under the framework of the Police Act Chapter 14:01. It also houses detention cells and a local INTERPOL liaison unit.
