Ferdinand F. Parillon
Ferdinand F. Parillon was a Dominican politician who represented the Colihaut Constituency as a member of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) following the 1975 General Elections.
Political career and contribution
Parillon won his seat on 24 March 1975, securing the support of the Colihaut electorate, where 825 voters were registered and 685 ballots were cast, reflecting strong civic participation. His victory came during a decisive period in Dominica’s political history, when the DLP, under Patrick Roland John, won 16 of 21 parliamentary seats, consolidating its dominance ahead of independence in 1978.
His campaign aligned with the DLP’s national platform of rural empowerment, employment creation, and social advancement. As the elected representative, Parillon participated in parliamentary discussions during Dominica’s transformative years, contributing to the final legislative sessions before independence.
While not among the most publicly visible figures of his time, Parillon’s role embodied the Labour Party’s grassroots connection to the working class and small farming communities of the island’s west coast. His tenure remains tied to the broader movement of Dominican self-determination, marking him as part of the generation of parliamentarians who helped transition the island from colonial rule toward sovereign nationhood.
