Dominicans are being reminded that the national voter confirmation process remains open and will continue until October 15, 2026, giving eligible citizens ample time to verify their voter status ahead of future general elections. The Electoral Commission has clarified that while new voter registration is temporarily suspended, the ongoing confirmation exercise remains fully active, serving as a critical safeguard to maintain an accurate and legally compliant voter list.
Confirmation centres remain open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to make use of this extended window to assist in the timely verification of electoral records and ensure their right to vote is secured.
The call for public participation follows updated statements that emphasize the importance of citizen involvement in the confirmation process, particularly in light of recent public concern over registration procedures. While new voter registration is on hold until the completion of a new technology-enabled enrollment system, all registered voters are still able to present themselves for confirmation at the centers designated by the Commission.
The process requires voters to appear in person and provide necessary documentation such as government-issued identification. The Electoral Office has urged persons living abroad, especially those planning to return to vote, to confirm early to avoid last-minute challenges.
As confirmation continues, the Commission also highlighted ongoing public education efforts and the availability of its hotline for queries, emphasizing transparency and accessibility throughout the exercise.
