Skerrit to Create Constituency Administrators; Advises On Wealth Creation

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit plans to create constituency administrators, even as he advised new homeowners to save for wealth creation. According to Skerrit, if the DLP wins the coming general election and remains in power, each constituency will have an administrator to assist the parliamentary representative in the daily running of the constituency. A sum of $400 will be given to the administrator to carry out his duties in his constituency.

Skerrit revealed that the main job of the prospective constituency administrator is to assist the parliamentary representative with daily administrative tasks to promote the efficiency of the representative. The administrator will report directly to the representative and follow through with his plans and visions for the constituency.

Skerrit said constituency boards will also be created with representatives from villages in each constituency. The board will advise the parliamentary representative on issues confronting villages as well as programmes that will benefit all components of the constituency when implemented.

The prime minister made this revelation while endorsing the candidacy of Catherine Daniel for the Colihaut constituency. She is nominated the contest the coming elections in order to run for her second term in office, an endorsement which she gladly accepted “with humility in an environment of peace and love – Labour love.”

Meanwhile, Skerrit during the handover of 32 new houses to families in Hillsborough Garden of St. Joseph constituency urged the new homeowners to save the money that would have been spent on rent in building future wealth.

“If you were paying rent of $500 monthly, I urge you to put $300 aside a month and build wealth,” he implored. “Do not find an expense for that $500 because you now have this home and are no longer paying rent. Start thinking about your children’s future and education. If it’s not a need, then you can do without it. If a settee costs $4,000 and you can do with the one which costs $1,500, take the one for $1,500 and save the rest of the money.”
