More than 300 students were officially conferred with diplomas and associate degrees during the 2025 graduation ceremony of the Dominica State College (DSC), held under the theme “Charting a Course for a Purposeful Life.” The event marked a significant milestone for the institution, highlighting both the perseverance of students and national expectations for the next generation.
Dr. Donald Peters, President of the Dominica State College, applauded the resilience and determination of this year’s graduating class, many of whom balanced work and family while pursuing their studies. “We are proud of you. It has been hard, and many of you had to work, take care of families, and still made the commitment to study and succeed,” Dr. Peters stated, emphasizing that their progress showed the power of discipline and unity.
Minister for Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence, Hon. Octavia Alfred, challenged graduates to embrace their future with responsibility and optimism. “You are graduating into a world of opportunities, and Dominica needs you,” she told the students, urging them to make meaningful contributions to national development, whether through innovation, public service, or entrepreneurship.
The ceremony included special awards, valedictorian speeches, and recognition of students who excelled across the college’s four divisions. Officials in attendance praised the college’s continued role in shaping skilled, civic-minded leaders, particularly in a changing global and local environment.
With the next academic cycle approaching, DSC reaffirmed its commitment to accessible, relevant education aligned with Dominica’s national priorities. Faculty members expressed hope that the graduates would remain lifelong learners and active citizens.
