Morne Jaune–Rivière Cyrique Reunion Continues with Community Projects

The Morne JauneRivière Cyrique Reunion is continuing this week with a programme that places community development, mentorship and wellness at the heart of its activities, bringing together residents, returning nationals and supporters in a celebration of heritage and service.

Organizers say this year’s reunion extends well beyond social gatherings by encouraging participants to contribute directly to projects that benefit the two neighbouring communities while strengthening connections across generations.

Monday’s activities are centred on Community Day, during which volunteers will undertake improvement projects at three locations, including the community health centre, the Morne Jaune Primary School and along sections of the public road network.

Following the community projects, the focus will shift to a mentorship evening at the Morne Jaune Primary School, where young people will engage with professionals and community leaders to discuss career opportunities, personal development and the importance of planning for the future.

Sherlyn Prescott of the Morne Jaune–Rivière Cyrique Reunion Organizing Committee said the mentorship session is intended to inspire young people by exposing them to different career paths and encouraging them to pursue their goals with confidence.

The programme will continue on Tuesday with a dedicated Wellness Day at Rosalie Bay Resort, offering activities designed to promote healthy living and personal well-being. Participants will later gather for a community cookout along the Rosalie River, providing an opportunity for families and visitors to reconnect in a relaxed setting.

Organizers say the reunion reflects a broader commitment to preserving community identity while encouraging volunteerism, youth engagement and stronger relationships among residents living both at home and abroad.

The week of activities will culminate with additional social and cultural events aimed at celebrating the history, traditions and achievements of Morne Jaune and Rivière Cyrique. Committee members expressed hope that the reunion will continue to strengthen community bonds while encouraging greater involvement in initiatives that contribute to the long-term development of both villages.
