MMC Says No Legal Dispute Exists Over International Airport Project

MMC Development has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to the construction and completion of the Dominica International Airport Project, while also rejecting reports suggesting legal disputes or arbitration proceedings involving the Government of Dominica.

In a statement issued this week, Montreal Management Consultants Development described the international airport project as “a cornerstone of Dominica’s national development”. It emphasised that the company’s relationship with the government remains stable and cooperative.

The company stated that no legal proceedings or arbitration matters are currently in effect against the Government of Dominica and said both parties continue working toward the successful completion of the long-anticipated project. “MMC Development formally confirms that no legal proceedings or arbitrations are currently in effect against the Government of Dominica,” the statement noted.

The clarification comes amid growing public attention surrounding the airport project, which remains one of the largest and most closely watched infrastructure developments in Dominica’s modern history.

MMC Development also expressed appreciation for what it described as the government’s “dedication and cooperative spirit” throughout the implementation process while reaffirming its own long-term involvement in the project.

The Dominica International Airport project has been promoted by the government as a transformational development expected to reshape tourism, trade, business travel, cargo movement, and broader economic opportunities for the island over the coming decades.

Construction activity at the airport site has continued steadily over recent months, with major earthworks, roadworks, and infrastructure preparation remaining visible components of the ongoing development effort.

For many Dominicans, however, the airport has increasingly become more than a construction project alone. It has evolved into a national symbol closely tied to expectations for economic growth, international connectivity, tourism expansion, and the long-standing ambition to achieve direct long-haul air access to Dominica.
