Harmonized Digital Curriculum Set to Transform Primary Schools Across Dominica

Dominica will launch the Digital OECS Harmonized Primary Curriculum on Thursday, 13 November 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwill Parish Hall, marking a major step forward in transforming primary education across the region. The initiative is part of a coordinated OECS-wide effort to modernize teaching and learning through shared digital resources.

Minister for Education Octavia Alfred said the new curriculum reflects years of collaboration among OECS Ministries of Education, curriculum specialists, digital technologists, and classroom teachers. She described it as “a result of many minds and many hands working together to create a coordinated approach to administering primary education across all OECS states.”

The digital framework will allow Dominican students to access the same interactive learning tools as their peers in other OECS countries. Officials highlighted that “a student in Dominica can explore the same rich interactive content as a student in St. Vincent or St. Kitts,” while teachers in Antigua, Grenada, and Saint Lucia can collaborate in real time through shared digital platforms.

The curriculum introduces updated learning outcomes, interactive multimedia lessons, and competency-based assessments designed to strengthen literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. It is also expected to improve continuity for families who move between OECS territories and to raise instructional quality through aligned regional standards.

With Dominica among the earliest adopters, the launch positions the island at the forefront of regional digital education reform, setting the stage for enhanced classroom innovation and stronger student performance.
