Global Adventist Leader to Visit Dominica as Local Church Marks Milestone

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Dominica is preparing to host a landmark visit from its global spiritual leader, Dr. Ted Wilson, President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2025, the visit marks a historic occasion for the local Adventist community, which is celebrating major strides in education and outreach.

Dr. Wilson’s visit coincides with the announcement of a $1 million US contribution toward the reconstruction of the Ebenezer S.D.A Primary School, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Maria in 2017. The funds, secured through international Adventist fundraising efforts, will go toward a modern school complex equipped with hurricane-resilient infrastructure and improved learning facilities.

The visit will feature a national gathering of Adventist members at the Windsor Park Stadium, with participation from regional church leaders, Dominican officials, and students from various Seventh-day Adventist institutions. Dr. Wilson is expected to deliver a keynote address on spiritual renewal, educational excellence, and the church’s role in societal development.

Church administrators, including Pastor Kellan Joseph, President of the Dominica Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, have called the event a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to affirm the church’s mission and inspire youth participation. Pastor Joseph noted that Adventists in Dominica have seen increased growth in membership, youth engagement, and education since 2020.

The Adventist Church is one of the most active denominations in Dominica’s faith-based development sector, operating several schools, humanitarian initiatives, and community health programs. The upcoming visit is expected to strengthen ties between the local mission and global church leadership, while showcasing Dominica’s resilience and commitment to faith-led service.
