Senior Loans Officer

Job Description

• Prudently and effectively assist member with loan inquiries, providing advice and necessary counseling required in best lending practices in addition to underwriting loan applications and other task related to completing the underwriting process.
• Provide overall supervision of Loan Officers under purview to ensure the timely, efficient, and prudent process of loan applications, for both Provident and Productive purposes, in strict compliance with the Society’s lending policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership to the Loan Officers while working in close collaboration with subordinates steering their efforts towards ensuring the development of new business while providing active support in soliciting, negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the disbursing of Provident and Productive Loans in compliance with the lending policy.
• Monitor the loan portfolio and provide quality member support, seeking every opportunity to grow lending portfolio, develop new services and make necessary recommendations to management as required.
• Perform other duties commensurate with the position which may be required from time to time

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Economics or related field and 5 years or more experience in the field
• Experience in supervising subordinate staff
• Experience in a customer service environment
• Proficient with computer applications, especially Excel
• Experience in a financial institution/Formal credit training.
• Must be self-directed and able to work with little or no supervision
• Strong Sales and marketing acumen
