Sales Clerk

Job Description

Island Ice Cream needs a trustworthy Sales Clerk with solid communication and organizational skills. If you’re a team player who can handle evening shifts and is comfortable with customer-facing tasks and POS systems, we’d love to meet you. A background in retail or food service will be considered an advantage.

Responsibility

• Assist customers with purchases and product inquiries in a friendly, professional manner
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash, and process payments accurately
• Restock display freezers and maintain proper inventory levels throughout shifts
• Ensure the store is clean, organized, and presentable at all times
• Monitor product quality and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
• Prepare basic products (e.g., scooping ice cream, preparing cones or cups) as required
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding shift updates and inventory needs
• Open or close the shop as scheduled, including end-of-day reconciliation and securing the premises

Experience and Qualifications

• Must reside in close proximity to Roseau and have reliable personal transportation, especially for late shifts ending at 10:00 PM.
• Must be flexible and available to work both morning and night shifts, as scheduled.
• A minimum of CXC passes in Mathematics and English is required.
• Strong business ethics, including punctuality and a reliable work attitude, are essential.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
• Previous experience in a similar role will be considered an asset.
• Must be a team player with a positive and cooperative attitude.
