Job Description

Be the driving force behind inclusive disaster planning in Dominica. This Protection/Gender and Inclusion Officer role at the Dominica Red Cross blends technical acumen, strong interpersonal skills, and strategic insight to develop policies with a gender lens. Ideal for professionals who thrive in cross-cultural settings and want to create measurable, socially just impact across the Eastern Caribbean.

Responsibility

  • Implement activities aligned with PGI objectives under PIRAC’s coordination
  • Achieve program targets related to gender and inclusion in risk and disaster frameworks
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on national and territorial strategies
  • Promote gender-sensitive approaches within National Societies and public institutions
  • Lead project cycles from planning through evaluation
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and technical training sessions
  • Participate in the drafting of inclusive humanitarian policies and response plans

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in social sciences specialising in gender, protection and/or inclusion or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' experience in the field of gender, protection and/or inclusion.
  • Mastering the project cycle and the GRC (Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery) Cycle (Continuum)
  • Experience in project implementation
  • Experience in knowledge transfer & technical expertise
  • Professional experience in an international solidarity organisation, knowledge of the International Red Cross Movement is a plus
  • Good advisory and support skills, ability to summarise and plan
  • Computer and office skills (Word / Excel / Internet)
  • Good interpersonal skills, organisational skills, teaching skills, curiosity, initiative, ability to make suggestions, flexibility
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
