As Communications Specialist, you’ll bring Caribbean Innovation & Leadership Lab’s (CILL) work to life through digital storytelling, social media engagement, and community outreach. This role is perfect for a creative professional with experience in content creation and a passion for equity in education across the Caribbean.
Position Title: Communications Specialist
Location: Remote (based in the Commonwealth of Dominica)
Reports To: Project Lead – Full Potential Program
Type of Engagement: Part-time consultancy (with flexible working hours)
Period: November 2025 to June 2026 (with possibility of extension to March 2027)
Role Summary
The Communications Specialist will support the visibility, reach, and knowledge-sharing goals of the Caribbean Innovation & Leadership Lab’s programs. The role includes managing social media accounts, developing content that reflects project values and progress, updating the project website, and supporting knowledge mobilization through digital storytelling and targeted stakeholder outreach.
Work will be conducted primarily remotely, with occasional in-person engagements or school visits within Dominica (scheduled with advance notice). Working hours are flexible but should accommodate key school or project activities, typically between 9am and 3pm.
Responsibility
- Support the management of the organization’s social media platforms in collaboration with other program countries, ensuring frequent and engaging content aligned with program values.
- Develop a content calendar and produce written, graphic, and video content that highlights:
- Teacher innovation stories
- Program milestones
- Findings from professional dialogues and classroom innovations
- Support the maintenance and update of CILL’s knowledge-sharing website, including:
- Uploading Professional Development materials, lesson plans, and innovation outputs
- Managing public and private resource repositories
- Draft and edit blog posts, newsletters, and short features in collaboration with the project team.
- Track and report on engagement metrics for social media and website usage.
- Support the design and delivery of public campaigns to celebrate teachers and build awareness of gender equity and inclusion in education.
- Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning and facilitation teams to ensure timely, accurate, and accessible content creation and sharing.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Education, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in digital content development and social media management.
- Strong writing and editing skills with a clear, culturally aware, and engaging tone.
- Familiarity with Caribbean education systems and gender equity issues preferred.
- Graphic design or video editing experience is an asset (e.g., Canva, Adobe tools, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of website management platforms (e.g., WordPress, Wix, or similar).
Benefits and Others
- The Communications Specialist will be engaged on a part-time consultancy basis.
- The consultant will be paid XCD 70.00 per hour, with an expected average of 20 hours per month.
- Invoices should be submitted by the final working day of each month and must include a summary of deliverables.
- This position does not carry additional employment benefits.
- Continuation of the contract is subject to performance and project needs.
Approximate Monthly Workplan (20 hrs/month)
- Content planning & coordination (2 hrs): Meetings with Project Lead/Country Coordinator and Teacher Engagement Facilitator to map content.
- Content creation (6 hrs): Draft/schedule 12–15 posts monthly, design graphics or short video clips.
- Website updates (3 hrs): Upload new resources and update content.
- Content capture (4 hrs): Attend local events, capture media and stakeholder feedback.
- Blog/story development (2 hrs): Develop/edit 500–800 word blogs or teacher profiles twice per month.
- Stakeholder engagement (2 hrs): Prepare monthly newsletter/email update.
- Analytics & reporting (1 hr): Review engagement data and share key insights.
