Job Description
Join the culinary brigade at InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa as a Commis Chef. You’ll support the kitchen in prepping, plating, and presenting dishes to international standards. This role suits energetic culinary talents eager to learn, work across various stations, and grow within a five-star hospitality setting.
Responsibility
- Prepare ingredients, assist in mise-en-place, and support senior chefs
- Execute recipes consistently with proper portioning
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned kitchen stations
- Uphold food safety and kitchen hygiene protocols
- Rotate through grill, prep, pastry, or cold sections as needed
- Plate and present dishes with attention to detail
- Assist with inventory checks and food storage
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment (minimum 6 months preferred)
- Strong passion for food preparation and culinary arts
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Able to read and follow recipes accurately with attention to consistency
- Good knife skills and understanding of portioning, prepping, and plating
- Attention to detail in food presentation and consistency
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Creative flair and strong sense of product presentation
- Good communication and passionate about customer service. Good command over written & spoken English; additional languages are an asset
- Physically fit – able to stand for long hours and lift heavy trays or ingredients
- Flexible to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Adaptability to different cuisines and kitchen stations (grill, cold prep, pastry, etc.)
