Job Description

St. Nicholas University School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Cafeteria Cook to provide nutritious meals for students, staff, and faculty. You’ll manage daily food preparation, maintain kitchen hygiene, and ensure menus meet both quality and dietary standards. This role is ideal for a dependable professional who enjoys blending efficiency with creativity in a busy educational environment.

Responsibility

  • Prepare and cook meals for students, staff, and faculty following planned menus.
  • Ensure proper portioning and cost-effective use of ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas.
  • Assist with menu planning and implement dietary requirements when needed.
  • Monitor food supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all food safety and health regulations.
  • Support catering for university events and special functions.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; certification in Culinary Arts or Food Service preferred.
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience as a cook in a cafeteria, school, or similar bulk-service environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a team-oriented kitchen.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina for standing long hours and handling kitchen equipment.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends for events.
