The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy will host the National Cannabis Symposium 2025, bringing together national, regional, and international stakeholders to advance dialogue on establishing a regulated and sustainable medicinal cannabis industry in Dominica.
The two-day event will feature plenary sessions on cannabis policy, licensing and regulation, traditional uses, cultivation standards, and investment strategies. Key speakers include Dominican botanist Dr. Machel Emmanuel and author Brendon Roberts. A Cannabis Investment Dinner will connect investors with business opportunities, while a Cannabis Exposition will showcase local value-added products.
The programme includes a Ministerial Technical Working Group exploring harmonized regional frameworks, and a cultural segment led by the House of Nyabinghi, honoring the plant’s spiritual relevance.
This initiative supports the Government’s goals to diversify agriculture, modernize regulation, and position Dominica as a credible producer and investment destination in the global cannabis market. The symposium is expected to inform the development of the Medicinal Cannabis Bill and guide the formation of a Cannabis Licensing Authority.
