National Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

The National Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT) is a developing initiative under Dominica’s Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and Digital Economy. Its purpose is to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure by providing a centralized body to monitor, detect, and respond to cyber threats.

Purpose and Development

The establishment of the CSIRT aims to enhance Dominica’s ability to manage cybersecurity incidents effectively. This includes providing timely responses to cyber threats, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, and implementing preventive measures to safeguard national digital assets.

Recent Initiatives

In September 2024, a four-day training session was conducted in Dominica as part of the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project. This training focused on mentoring and specialized instruction related to the creation of the National CSIRT, highlighting the government’s commitment to bolstering its cybersecurity capabilities.

Strategic Importance

The CSIRT is expected to play a crucial role in Dominica’s digital transformation by:

  • Enhancing the nation’s ability to respond to cyber incidents.
  • Facilitating collaboration among government agencies, private sector, and international partners.
  • Contributing to the development of a secure and resilient digital economy.

By establishing the CSIRT, Dominica demonstrates its proactive approach to cybersecurity, aligning with global best practices and ensuring the protection of its digital infrastructure.
