Matthew Joseph
Matthew Joseph was elected to the House of Assembly in the 1980 general election, representing the Salybia Constituency for the Dominica Democratic Labour Party (DDLP). His victory coincided with the landmark 1980 transition that reshaped Dominica’s parliamentary map, and he served one full term, 1980–1985. That election produced a dominant national win for the Dominica Freedom Party overall, but Salybia returned Joseph for the DDLP, highlighting the constituency’s distinct local dynamics.
