Florian Mitchell
Florian Mitchell leads the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) as its General Manager, driving efforts in waste diversion, infrastructure development, and public education on waste management. In recent years, he has overseen operations to remove over 2,100 derelict vehicles across Dominica and has expanded the distribution of residential and recycling bins to support sustainable waste disposal practices.
Mitchell initiated a “Be the Solution, Stop Pollution” campaign focused on proper waste management and pollution prevention. He also emphasized repairing and upgrading the waste fleet, with pending delivery of new garbage trucks to bolster service efficiency island-wide. Community engagement has been a key part of his strategy, with initiatives like Zero-Waste Pilot programs promoting waste separation, composting, and recycling through collaborations with citizens, schools, and the OECS.
