Desjardin
Desjardin is a mountainous area located within Saint Paul Parish in Dominica, forming part of the island’s rugged landscape. It lies near the rural community of Warner, directly overlooking the Caribbean Sea and rising above the Jimmit Industrial Road and Warner Road corridor. The area is noted for its elevation, steep gradients, and proximity to Dominica’s volcanic geological belt.
Natural Features and Agricultural Use
The Desjardin mountain area is characterised by dense forest cover, narrow ridgelines, and panoramic views that stretch westward to the sea. The area is surrounded by other remote, forested locations, characterised by its fertile volcanic soil and undisturbed woodlands. It supports hillside farming, particularly for bananas, citrus, and root crops. While population density is low, portions of the area are informally cultivated by residents from Warner and neighboring estates. These small farms contribute to the agricultural sector, especially as more Dominicans return to land-based livelihoods and food security efforts.
