Darron T. Lloyd

Darron T. Lloyd is a Dominican politician and public servant, currently serving as the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernisation, Kalinago Upliftment, and Constituency Empowerment. He also represents the St. Joseph Constituency in the House of Assembly of Dominica.
Early Life and Education
Born and raised in St. Joseph, Dominica, Darron Lloyd was raised by his mother and aunt, who instilled in him strong community values and a commitment to public service. He pursued higher education in China, gaining valuable academic and cultural experiences that influenced his approach to governance.
Political Career
In December 2022, following the general elections, Lloyd was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary in his current ministry, with specific responsibility for Constituency Empowerment. In this role, he assists in implementing policies aimed at environmental protection, rural development, and the upliftment of the Kalinago Territory.
As the Parliamentary Representative for the St. Joseph Constituency, Lloyd has been actively involved in community development initiatives. He has expressed support for organizations like the Be More Mentorship Foundation, which focuses on youth entrepreneurship and empowerment in Dominica.
Advocacy and Public Engagement
Lloyd has been a vocal advocate for education and personal development. Drawing from his experiences studying abroad, he has encouraged Dominican students to pursue international scholarships and return home to contribute to national development. At the 2023 Chinese Government Scholarship Awards ceremony, he urged recipients to maximise their opportunities and serve as ambassadors for Dominica.
Lloyd has addressed various national issues in parliamentary sessions, including the effectiveness of Dominica’s healthcare system. During the 2023/2024 Budget Debate, he highlighted the government’s efforts to improve healthcare facilities and services across the island.

Beyond his parliamentary duties, Lloyd has participated in initiatives aimed at environmental conservation and community engagement. He played a role in the CleanAMile Initiative, a collaborative effort between the United Nations and Dominica’s Ministry of Environment to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable practices.
