Waitukubuli Entrepreneurs Lévé (WEL) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Dominica dedicated to supporting the development of young Dominicans with significant entrepreneurial potential. The organization provides inspiration, information, and mentorship to aspiring business owners, fostering a culture of innovation and self-sufficiency among the island's youth.

Waitukubuli Entrepreneurs Lévé's Mission and Objectives

WEL's primary mission is to cultivate the next generation of Dominican entrepreneurs by:

• Providing Business Skills Training: Offering workshops and seminars on essential business topics such as accounting, marketing, human resource management, and customer service.
• Facilitating Mentorship Opportunities: Connecting young entrepreneurs with experienced business leaders for guidance and support.
• Creating Networking Platforms: Organizing events that allow aspiring entrepreneurs to network with peers and established professionals.

Key Initiatives of Waitukubuli Entrepreneurs Lévé

One of WEL's flagship events is the annual retreat held at Jungle Bay Resort during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November. This retreat provides emerging entrepreneurs with the opportunity to network with business leaders and build skills in business development and motivational leadership. Since its inception, over 100 young Dominicans have participated in WEL retreats, resulting in the establishment of more than 30 new businesses on the island.

In addition to the annual retreat, WEL hosts Reconnect Sessions throughout the year. These sessions further develop the networking, business skills, and leadership abilities of past program graduates. Facilitators and guest speakers from Dominica and the region share their experiences and insights with aspiring entrepreneurs during these sessions.

Impact and Success Stories

WEL's programs have led to the creation of several successful businesses in Dominica, including:

• Jodie's Sweet Art: A confectionery business known for its creative and delicious treats.
• 365MMP: A multimedia production company offering various services.
• Nature's Caress: A business specializing in natural skincare products.

These enterprises exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit that WEL aims to instill in young Dominicans.

Support and Collaboration

WEL collaborates with various organizations to enhance its programs, including the Dominica Youth Business Trust and Invest Dominica Authority. These partnerships provide additional resources and support to young entrepreneurs. Notably, in 2014, WEL received a generous contribution of US$20,000 from Henley & Partners Caribbean Ltd to support the development of its annual retreat program.
