Castle Bruce Health Centre to Be Named After Nurse Hyacinth Thomas

The Castle Bruce Health and Wellness Centre will officially be named in honour of Nurse Hyacinth Thomas, recognising what officials describe as decades of dedicated healthcare service and commitment to the people of the constituency.

The announcement was made by Parliamentary Representative for the Castle Bruce Constituency, Octavia Alfred, who praised Thomas for her contribution to patient care, mentorship, and healthcare development within the district. Alfred described the move as a well-deserved tribute to someone whose influence extended far beyond the walls of the health centre itself.

On behalf of the entire Castle Bruce constituency, I extend highest congratulations to Nurse Hyacinth Thomas, after whom the Castle Bruce Health and Wellness Center will be named,” Alfred stated. She added that the honour reflects Thomas’ “decades of compassionate care, tireless advocacy and unwavering contribution to every patient who crossed her path and every young nurse she mentored.

According to Alfred, Thomas built a reputation not only as a healthcare professional, but as a figure people depended on during moments of crisis and uncertainty. She noted that the veteran nurse consistently demonstrated compassion, discipline, and leadership while helping shape healthcare delivery in the area over many years.

She didn’t just practice nursing, she elevated it. She was indeed the heart of healthcare in our district,” Alfred said while describing Thomas’ impact on the Castle Bruce Health District and the wider healthcare community.

Thomas was also credited with mentoring younger healthcare workers and maintaining a strong presence during medical emergencies and routine community care alike.

The naming of public facilities after distinguished nationals has become one of the ways government and communities recognize individuals who have made lasting contributions to national development and public service.

Officials say the Castle Bruce Health and Wellness Centre, named after Nurse Hyacinth Thomas, will serve as a lasting reminder of her commitment to healthcare, compassion, and community service.
