Police Force Announces 43 Acting Appointments

Acting Police Chief Lincoln Corbett has announced a wave of 43 acting appointments within the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, highlighting both promotions and temporary assignments across the ranks.
Corbett explained that the changes stem from promotions, vacation leave, and other administrative movements that opened key positions within the force. Among the updates, four officers have been elevated to act as superintendents, including Inspector Chester James, Maurice Pierre of the Melville Hall Division, John Lewis, and Leona Edwards.
In total, the Police Service Commission approved 30 acting appointments spanning from the superintendent rank down to sergeant. Notably, women secured ten of these positions, with four inspectors, two sergeants, two corporals, an assistant superintendent, and a superintendent among those promoted. Corbett emphasized that this reflects the growing representation of women within the police force.
Additionally, exercising powers vested in the Chief of Police, 13 further acting appointments were made up to the rank of corporal, bringing the total number of acting positions filled to 43. Corbett emphasized that these appointments strengthen leadership at all levels of the force and ensure continuity in policing operations.
The announcement came as police leadership addressed the media ahead of the World Creole Music Festival, which requires significant law enforcement coordination. Corbett said the appointments demonstrate confidence in the officers’ ability to lead and respond effectively to current and future security challenges
