39 Promotions Announced in Dominica Police Force

A major round of promotions has been announced within the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, marking what officials describe as a continued investment in law enforcement capacity and leadership. The update was delivered by Acting Chief of Police Lincoln Corbette during a formal address earlier this week.

A total of 39 officers were promoted across various ranks. According to Corbette, the promotions include:

  • 10 corporals to sergeants
  • 10 constables to corporals
  • 3 sergeants to inspectors
  • 5 inspectors to assistant superintendents
  • 2 superintendents to acting assistant commissioners
  • 2 assistant commissioners to deputy commissioners
  • 1 deputy commissioner to commissioner
  • 2 acting inspectors confirmed as inspectors
  • 4 acting assistant superintendents confirmed in rank

Corbette emphasized that the process was conducted with full deliberation by the Police Service Commission, stressing that each promotion was based on merit, service, and leadership capacity. He said the move reflects the government’s commitment to a stable and professional force.

We have ensured that these promotions were not just ceremonial, but reflective of the hard work and sacrifices our officers continue to make,” Corbette stated.

Observers say the high number of promotions may reflect a shift toward grooming a new generation of law enforcement leaders while also addressing concerns of stagnation and morale in the service. The acting chief hinted at additional personnel changes and training programs that would follow.

The announcement has been positively received by many within the force and the public, although it has also reignited calls for transparency in promotion criteria and for parallel investment in resources and community policing strategies.
