Job Description
A day as Sous Chef at Ocean Oasis Hotel Dominica includes leading the kitchen team, managing food preparation, and ensuring dishes reflect high standards of quality. You’ll support the Head Chef in planning and innovation, helping to deliver authentic, eco-conscious dining experiences that exceed guest expectations.
Responsibility
- Supervise daily food preparation and kitchen operations
- Support the Head Chef in menu planning and execution
- Oversee kitchen staff, training, and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Monitor inventory and assist with stock management
- Maintain eco-conscious practices in sourcing and preparation
- Step in as acting Head Chef when required
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts (Bachelor’s or advanced certification preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in professional kitchens, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Creativity in menu design and presentation
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sustainability practices
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
