Spain Grants Visa-Free Entry to Dominican Citizens

The measure places Dominica among nine CARICOM member states whose nationals will be eligible to enter Spain for short visits without first obtaining a visa. Officials say the policy is intended to facilitate legitimate travel while strengthening ties between Spain and Caribbean nations.
Under the new arrangement, holders of valid Dominican passports will be permitted to remain in Spain for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for purposes such as tourism, business meetings, family visits or other short-term activities. The exemption does not authorize employment or long-term residence, and travellers must still satisfy Spain’s standard entry requirements upon arrival.
Tourism and travel industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that easier access to Spain could encourage more leisure travel, educational exchanges and business opportunities between Dominica and Europe.
The announcement also reflects the growing diplomatic relationship between Spain and the Caribbean Community, with officials highlighting increased cooperation in areas including trade, development, education and cultural exchange.
While welcoming the new travel arrangement, authorities reminded prospective travellers that visa-free entry does not guarantee admission. Visitors must continue to comply with immigration regulations, including requirements relating to valid travel documents, proof of accommodation or onward travel where applicable, and sufficient financial means to support their stay.
Officials believe the policy will make travel more convenient for Dominican citizens while creating additional opportunities for tourism, business engagement and cultural exchange between Dominica and Spain. They also expect the measure to strengthen people-to-people connections and further deepen relations between Spain and the Caribbean region.
