Roseau Enhancement Project Enters Implementation Phase

The Roseau Enhancement Project has entered a new phase with government officials, consultants, utility providers and other stakeholders beginning preparations for the implementation of a major infrastructure upgrade programme in the capital city.
According to information released by the Government of Dominica, a recent stakeholder meeting was convened to coordinate the next stage of the project and discuss the commencement of planned rehabilitation works. Representatives from government ministries, utility companies, project consultants and other agencies participated in the discussions as preparations intensified for the execution phase.
The development follows the award of a US$2.24 million consultancy contract to the Saudi Arabia Consulting Engineering Office (PACE) in association with Dominica-based CORISAV Inc. The consultancy team has been engaged to undertake the design review and provide supervision services for the planned road rehabilitation works throughout key sections of Roseau.
The project will focus on the rehabilitation and upgrading of several major roads within the city, including Independence Street, Bath Road, Cork Street, Great George Street, Virgin Lane, River Street and King George V Street. Officials say the improvements are intended to modernize critical infrastructure while improving mobility and accessibility within the capital.
Government has described the initiative as part of a wider strategy to transform Roseau into a safer, more efficient and pedestrian-friendly urban centre. Planned improvements are expected to address deteriorating road surfaces, improve traffic movement and enhance the overall appearance and functionality of the city.
The project also forms part of broader efforts to modernize public infrastructure and support economic activity within the capital. Improved road networks are expected to benefit residents, businesses, motorists and visitors by providing safer and more reliable transportation corridors.
With the planning and coordination phase now underway, authorities are expected to continue consultations with affected stakeholders as the project advances toward active construction and rehabilitation works. Government officials have indicated that collaboration among utility companies, contractors and public agencies will be critical to ensuring the smooth execution of the initiative and minimizing disruptions during implementation.
