The Dominica Youth Business Trust is set to expand its financial support to young entrepreneurs in 2026, with plans to increase loan guarantee limits and strengthen assistance for start-ups and small businesses across the country.
The expansion was outlined as part of the Trust’s restructuring agenda, aimed at improving access to finance for youth-led enterprises and reducing barriers that often prevent young people from securing loans through commercial institutions. Under the proposed changes, the current loan guarantee ceiling of EC$20,000 is expected to be increased to EC$40,000, enabling beneficiaries to pursue larger, more sustainable business ventures.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to make the Trust more responsive to the needs of young entrepreneurs, particularly those operating in emerging sectors and communities where access to capital remains limited. The expanded guarantee is intended to encourage greater participation by financial institutions, while giving young business owners more room to grow, invest in equipment, and scale operations.
Alongside the increase in guarantees, the Trust is expected to place stronger emphasis on technical support, mentorship, and business development services.
