BTC Approved as Official GED Testing Centre, Expands to Antigua and St. Martin

The Business Training Centre (BTC) has officially been certified as a registered testing centre for the General Educational Development (GED) program. This achievement marks a significant milestone for adult education in Dominica. The announcement was made by BTC Director Cecil Joseph, who also revealed that plans are underway to expand the institution’s services to Antigua and Dutch St. Martin.
The GED qualification, which is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma, opens up opportunities for those who were unable to complete secondary school to pursue further education or gainful employment both locally and abroad. By securing testing centre status, BTC is now authorized to administer the internationally recognized four-part examination, covering Reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.
Joseph noted that this move forms part of BTC’s broader commitment to regional access and empowerment. “What we are doing is to continue to expand and to provide opportunities not only for people here in Dominica, but for persons across the region,” he said, confirming that expansion efforts will include new partnerships and satellite operations.
BTC is known for its affordable, flexible adult education model and longstanding support of lifelong learning, offering CXC, IGCSE, and vocational programs. The addition of the GED programme represents a new tier in its educational offerings, aligning with growing demand from non-traditional learners seeking accessible pathways to advancement.
