National Youth Theatre

The National Youth Theatre of Dominica was once a vital platform for youth engagement in drama and the performing arts, offering opportunities for Dominica’s youth to showcase their talents in stage productions and cultural performances. The theatre may no longer be as active as it once was. In recent years, efforts have shifted to other cultural initiatives, such as the New Dimension Theatre, which continues to promote drama and the performing arts on the island.

Efforts to engage young Dominicans in cultural activities, including theatre, primarily focus on broader initiatives by the National Youth Council and other cultural bodies. These organizations aim to revive youth engagement in arts and culture through various programs, ensuring the preservation of Dominican traditions.

The development of performing arts within schools, particularly under the guidance of the Division of Culture, remains an area of focus to ensure that young people have access to platforms that foster their creativity and personal growth.
