Champagne Beach: A Protected Paradise

Champagne Beach is not only famous for its volcanic bubbles and vibrant marine life, it’s also a protected sea turtle breeding area. To ensure that nesting turtles can lay their eggs safely, all beach chairs are removed from the breeding zone after 5:00 PM. Following Hurricane Maria in 2017, PH Whale Watch helped transform the beach from a ravine into a peaceful oasis by removing debris, planting healthy trees, and restoring the sand, a reflection of their continued dedication to preserving Dominica’s natural heritage.

Whale Watch, Snorkeling & Diving Adventures

• Whale & Dolphin Cruises (Oct–May):
  • Depart daily from Roseau Ferry Terminal at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM
  • 3-hour guided cruises, rated among the best in Dominica
  • Guides recognize individual whales and respect their space, the whales come close because they trust us
• Snorkeling at Champagne Reef, Scotts Head, and Bubble Beach Spa:
  • From shore or boat, guests discover vibrant coral, volcanic vents, and marine life
  • Full snorkelling gear available for rental, including vests and fins
• Diving at Champagne Reef:
  • Certified divers explore reefs and a shipwreck
  • Non-certified guests can take a PADI Certification Course (offered Mon, Wed, Fri during low season)

Visit and Explore Safely

Upon arriving at Champagne Beach, visitors are required to purchase a $2 USD Marine Park Fee ticket. Continue past the first building to PH Whale Watch’s second building, where Guide Adin and the team provide safety briefings, snorkel guidance, and beach access. Relax in shaded or sunny spots, rent beach chairs for $5, and enjoy drinks and snacks at the on-site bar (all drinks $3 USD).
